Got videos from the seller today. Useful stuff shown. Interior looks a little more worn than first thought, but the body is pretty incredible. The rust definitely looks very minimal. Still waiting on shipping quotes that include pickup from Spain, but I still think I can get it here and legal under $4000.

Yeah the apparent lack of rust is borderline magical. Also it sounds like it runs like a top. I assume they all have broken plastics in the rear seat/cargo area? Looks like the absolute cheapest of cheap hard plastic that gets a few UV rays and then turns to shards

Well the video didn’t sell total lack of rust to me but it is hardly rusty.
The interior plastic is not so much brittle due to UV, more by budget. So the broken stuff can be patched, possibly even welded. However, the dash plastic is not so simple...it does get UVed.
The engine is pure licenced Fiat and understressed to boot. I’ve never heard one not sound OK unless it was played with or neglected.
From dark memories, Fiat 124 engine swapsies were not uncommon down here. However, like all motivational upgrades on Lada vehicles...that road can lead to tears.

Waiting for a quote from a full service shipper, otherwise I’m going to have to try to hire a trucker in Spain to get it to a port...

Damn, hoping they get back to you and it’s not too costly! The place I am hoping to import my FIAT 126 through in Poland in the next year or two will take care of tuning the car up, shipping it to the port, etc but I’ll have to find a broker on this end to deal with the import process...luckily I am only an hour from the port though!

The last Shipper I contacted never got back to me (they are based in Spain, In the currently unruly part...) and the lowest quote I got from another shipper that included pick up was over $4000... I can’t justify that. I’ve also been unable to get a quote from either of the ports of departure that are less than 50 miles from the car’s location, the one shipper who has been both responsive and reasonable on the price says they just aren’t getting responses from the contractors for those ports. So... Even if some one went and picked it up and drove it to the port of departure the closest port I have quote for is on the other side of the country :/ its looking grim. On the bright side the seller still has it. He’s been driving it and isn’t really in that big of a hurry to get rid of it.

Damn...hopefully something works out for you, but it does sound grim! :(
